Saturday night in our house is traditionally a take-away night. Not every Saturday but most I’ll treat myself to not only a night off from cooking but to a bloody lovely kebab or pizza or curry. And because it’s pretty much the only night of the week that we are all around to eat dinner at the same time, we tend to have an early-ish one with Finley and watch a family film.
Last week, it was pizzas and Indiana Jones!
But either way the kitchen is closed because I can’t be bothered and we end up spending thirty quid on food just so that someone else can cook it and we can chill out. So when I was asked to take part in the Rustlers Burger Hacking Challenge, I thought I’d sub out our traditional takeaway for some cheeky chicken burgers because they are so quick to organise. I picked up a couple of packs – £2.50 for a pack of two. And I decided to spice them up a bit with fresh salsa and guacamole (don’t be ridiculous I didn’t make it from scratch #thankyoutesco) and added the cheese slices we already had at home.
Needless to say everyone was happy, all I had to do was microwave the burgers for 90 seconds and it cost a fraction of the price. We all sat down in front of the TV to watch Disney Cars and definitely not get any salsa on the new sofas…
